Anxiety
counselling for men

If anxiety, worry or overthinking is something you want help with, we can look at what happens when those thoughts show up and what you want to respond to differently.

What you might want to discuss

For example:

  • Worry about a particular situation, decision or relationship.
  • Plans, calls or places that are easier to avoid.
  • Repeated checking or going over the same concern.

How I work with this

We can take a recent example and look at your thoughts, feelings, actions and what followed. Where appropriate, I may suggest drawing on my CBT or FACT training to explore a different response. We agree what to try and review your experience.

Appointments

Start with a free welcome call to discuss what you want to work on and ask about sessions. We agree appointments separately, subject to availability.

Before you book

Questions worth asking.

Is what I’m feeling actually anxiety, or just stress?+
A counselling conversation can explore what you are experiencing, but it is not a diagnosis. A GP can assess symptoms, including physical symptoms that need medical attention.
Do I need medication before I start counselling?+
Medication is a question for your GP or prescriber. We can discuss counselling alongside any care you already receive.
How long does it take?+
We agree how often to meet and review the work. I cannot give a reliable number of sessions before understanding your circumstances.
Will I have to talk about my childhood?+
We discuss the parts of your history that are relevant to the work you want to do. You can ask about the purpose of any question.
What if I don’t know what’s causing it?+
Describe what you have noticed, including when it happens and how it affects you. We can start there.
