What you might want to discuss
For example:
- Standards you set for yourself.
- How you respond to praise, criticism or mistakes.
- Comparisons with other people that you want to understand.
How I work with this
Where relevant, we can look at where a standard came from and how it works now. I may ask about a recent situation or a relationship connected with it. We decide which aspects are relevant to the work and review them together.
Appointments
Start with a free welcome call to discuss what you want to work on and ask about sessions. We agree appointments separately, subject to availability.
Before you book
Questions worth asking.
Isn’t this just confidence by another name?+
We can discuss both confidence in a particular situation and your broader view of yourself. You do not need to choose one label.
Will counselling make me arrogant?+
That is not an aim I set for you. We discuss what you want to change and what that would look like in your life.
What if my self-esteem issues come from something specific - a parent, a relationship?+
We can explore that experience and its effect on how you see yourself now. I will not assume that one relationship explains everything.
How long does this kind of work usually take?+
We agree appointments and review progress. I cannot promise a set number of sessions.
Can we discuss how I respond to criticism?+
Yes. We can explore a recent example, what it meant to you and how you responded.
