How online counselling works across the Fylde coast.
Sessions run by secure video or phone. A link arrives beforehand and the session lasts the same fifty minutes it would in a room.
If your work is seasonal or shift-based, a fixed weekly appointment at a fixed address can be hard to sustain. Online sessions do not have to sit at the same time each week.
It also means a quiet week and a flat-out week can both accommodate a session, rather than the busy one simply cancelling it.
Covered from here
What you need for an online session.
A private space and any device with a microphone. The joining link is emailed in advance. A parked car can work if it is private, stationary and somewhere you will not be interrupted.
Men counselling men.
If you specifically want to work with a male counsellor, Men’s Therapy UK offers that option, without the long drive this coast would otherwise involve.
What you can bring to counselling.
Work that stops and starts.
Seasonal income, and the particular strain of a good summer having to cover a thin winter.
Drinking that fits in too easily.
Where the trade and the social life overlap, it can take a while to notice the amount has changed.
Being far from family.
Having moved here, with the people you would normally lean on somewhere else.
Feeling stuck rather than sad.
Not depression exactly. A sense that things have settled into a shape you did not choose.
Ways to work
Choose how we work.

Free mental health support across Blackpool & the Fylde.
Counselling is not the only door and it is not always the first one worth trying. These cost nothing and take self-referrals.
Counselling questions men in Blackpool & the Fylde ask.
My work is seasonal. Can I start and stop?
+
Yes. Pay-as-you-go exists for exactly this, with no commitment beyond the session booked. Blocks are the thing to avoid if your year comes in waves, since unused sessions expire.
Can I do a session on a day off rather than an evening?
+
Daytime slots exist and are often easier to get than evenings, which are the most contested. Worth asking on the free welcome call rather than assuming evenings are the only option.
What if I am not sure I can afford it?
+
Check the Fees page before booking and ask about costs on the welcome call. You can also ask your GP or local services about publicly funded support.
Do you work with men in recovery?
+
Yes. Addiction work is part of the background here rather than an add-on, though counselling sits alongside recovery support rather than replacing it.
Is it awkward on a phone rather than video?
+
A lot of my work happens on the phone by choice. Whether a call or a video session suits you better is worth trying rather than deciding in advance.

Choose a day and time in the calendar below. You can ask me questions about how I work and tell me what you would like support with. There is no obligation to book counselling afterwards.

Online sessions cover the whole of the UK regardless. These are the places with a page of their own.
